First Day of Work : Part Four

Happy Friday! Today, I'm bringing you the final installment of my series - First Day of Work. I asked some of my most fashionable girlfriends what they would wear (or wore) on their first day of work. You can check out part one, part two, and part three here.

The outfits my friends chose gave me a ton of inspiration. Jessi's simple black skirt is a MUST HAVE for working girls. Michele's fun blouse can add flair to any outfit - for work or play! Kim's structured floral dress and nude pumps are just perfection.

The first few days weeks of work are always tough when it comes to choosing what to wear. You want to dress professional and look appropriate, but you still want your personal style to shine through. For me, swiping on some lipstick and wearing snazzy jewelry adds a personal touch to my work outfits. I guess you can say that those are my signatures ;)

Today, my friend Amanda who works in marketing shares what she wore on her first day of work.

Name: Amanda
Occupation: Marketing Manager
Dress Code:  Business Casual

Amanda works in marketing. Amanda's office attire is business casual, so she dresses pretty casually in the office. The days where Amanda has to meet with clients are days where she needs to reach for something more professional. For the first day of work, Amanda went with something professional but still trendy. She wanted to make sure she wore something nice enough for an impromptu first day of work meeting but something comfortable. Who knows what you'll be doing on your first day? Maybe sitting all day, maybe standing all day, or maybe you'll be in meetings all day. Amanda wanted to play it safe but still look fashionable. I give her an A+ :)

I love Amanda's outfit. It's no secret that I have a penchant for anything with stripes, so of course, I'm obsessed with this dress. This dress is perfect for all seasons. It's great for Summer to wear with a light blazer. It can also be worn with tights for the Winter, booties for the Fall, and a pretty pink lipstick for the Spring. The dress also matches annnnnny kinda jewelry you want to wear.

What are you up to this weekend? I can't believe summer is almost over. I'm looking forward to catching some sun this weekend and hitting the mall for some fall clothes.

Thank you so much for reading!

Hot Pants

Typically, on a reallllllly hot summer day (like today), I'll reach for a light, flowy dress. On this particular summer day, I decided to go for pants. I love these pants. They're lightweight and comfortable. They're professional and adorable. 100% office appropriate. These pants are versatile too. I often wear them when I travel for work too. They can easily be transitioned from comfortable airplane-wear to business casual.

I've worn these pants several different ways too. I typically wear them like I did with this blog post. I like wearing them with a white button down (tucked in of course) and chunky heels. I've also worn them when it gets a bit cooler with a tight sweater and booties. These pants are really only for warmer weather... BUT I think they can totally work for early Fall (if you layer!)

How was your weekend? I can't believe summer is coming to an end. My next few weekends are jam-packed with bbq's, birthdays, beach days, and pool days. I love Summer but I really can't wait till Fall. I'm looking forward to wearing boots, over-sized knit sweaters, and scarves! I'm sure I'll take that back once it starts getting colder though...

Have a good week and thanks for reading! Be sure to swing by next week for my fourth installment in my First Day of Work series. You can find part one here, part two here, and part three here

First Day of Work : Part Three

Hello friends! To the faithful readers of my blog - I know, I know, I've been totally MIA for the last few weeks. As I mentioned before, I recently started a new job. The last few weeks have been crazy. I'm learning a lot and my brain is just filled to the brim with new information.

Today, I bring you the third installment in my First Day of Work series. I asked some of my most fashionable girlfriends what they wore on their first day of work. The first and second part of the series can be found here and here.  The first few days (or even weeks!) of work are so nerve-racking. Aside from making a good impression and knowing the ropes of your new position, it's important to dress the part too. That means, always looking put together, appropriate, and of course... stylish!

Name: Kimberly
Occupation: Middle School Teacher
Dress Code: Professional

Kim has one of the toughest and most rewarding jobs. The best part of her job? Being an educator. The hardest part of her job? Picking an outfit in the morning. Kim has to impress her students and her fellow teachers!

What better way to start off the school year than with flowers? I'm obsessed with the color pattern of the flowers on Kim's dress. It's subdued yet has personality. Kim can be professional in this dress but still express excitement for the first day of school. When you're working a long day and standing in front of a class of students all day, it's important to be comfortable. Kim says that this dress is one of the most comfortable dresses she owns. It's made of polyester and spandex. This sleeveless and breezy dress is perfect for those warm September days. Kim always has to pay close attention to shoes. Kim says that most teachers avoid heels because they are on their feet all day. Certain days, like the first day of school are exceptions! Kim's shoes are Calvin Klein and it's easy to make it through the day in these pumps. They're so professional and match anything. Hmmm. I may have to purchase a pair for myself...

The book Kim is holding in the pictures is called The First Days of School by Wong & Wong. Kim says, this book is a must read, whether it is a new teaching job or a new school year. It literally is a survival kit. It is filled with goodies and motivation. It is sure to put a smile on your face and remind you of how exciting it is to be a teacher.

Kim's advice for the first day of work - No matter what you decide to wear on the first day of work or school, always remember that your best accessory is your smile :)

Thanks so much for reading! Check back soon for the next installment in the series!
