Winter White

As soon as I saw this pretty sleeveless sweater at Madewell, I knew I had to have it. It's the perfect layering piece and can be worn throughout the Winter. We're having a really, really mild Winter (SO FAR) here on the East Coast. I've already worn this sweater with a lacy bralette underneath for a warm Fall day. I re-purposed the sweater for the office by adding a long sleeve shirt underneath, skinny black pants, and booties. A bold lip and long necklace completed the look. I also love how the sweater is a little longer in the back. This sweater would look just as cute with jeans and slip on sneakers for a casual Friday look.

Can you guys believe that Christmas is on TOMORROW?!?! I don't know about you, but I still have some SERIOUS shopping to do. Things have been quite crazy lately. I got engaged (!!!!) and I've been traveling like crazy for work. I'm so happy that things are calming down a little, and I'll be able to enjoy this holiday season!

If you need some inspiration on what to wear to the office this holiday season, some of my favorite holiday looks are - here, here, here, and here

Happy Holidays! Thank you so much for reading :)

Ask the Office Fashionista: Fancy Holiday Party

Here's a letter I received via email from one of my readers. If you're seeking fashion advice, click here to find out how to be featured! Check out past "Ask the Office Fashionista" questions here

Dear Office Fashionista,

I just know you will have the answer to this! I have been invited to an office holiday party. It is at a fancy restaurant. The problem is: I don't know what to wear! What look will be appropriate for a work event, but also fun and festive for this time of year? I can't wait to see your ideas! Thank you so much.

The Concerned Holiday Party Guest

Dear Concerned Holiday Party Guest,

Getting dressed up for a potluck holiday party at your friends house or for a family holiday party is a piece of cake, but dressing up for an office holiday party is tough! You need something sophisticated and glamorous. Something that isn't too stuffy and too "9 to 5". Concerned Party Guest, I've got your back. Here are some tips and ideas to make you the most fashionable guest at your fancy office holiday party!

- Remember to stick to your work dress code even though the party is off-site. If your dress code at work is business casual, dress that way for the party.
- When you're getting dressed for the party, remember that your boss will be there! So don't wear anything that you wouldn't want your boss to see you in.
- When in doubt, wear black. You can never go wrong with a little black dress and some fun accessories.
- Make sure hemlines aren't too short!
- If you're looking in the mirror and asking yourself if you should wear tights with that, then you probably should!

I put together some run holiday outfits that are office party appropriate. Whether your party is at a fancy restaurant, in your offices cafeteria, or in the school gym.

Plaid Party

I am a lover of plaid. It's such a fun pattern and I especially love wearing plaid during the Holidays. I wore this dress to the office recently and I'm planning on wearing it throughout the Holiday season. The colors are really festive. I love the pleats at the bottom, it's adorable! I paired the dress with black booties. For a office Holiday party, I would add high heels and a fur vest so I'm extra toasty!

I scooped up this top at this really cute store in Austin - where I was for work a few weeks ago. I fell in love with practically everything! I finally decided on this dress - perfect for work and for the weekends.  Austin had a ton of cute little shops with the greatest clothes. I'll be sharing some of what I got in some upcoming posts!

I'm always stumped when it comes to deciding what to wear to an office Holiday party. Check out my Office Holiday Party outfit guide for some ideas! You're guaranteed to be the most stylish at your party.

shine bright like a diamond

Wednesday is the new Friday!  I wore this outfit for a casual look.  It's the day before a long weekend, which means that dressing down in my office is totally fine.

I really love this bright, neon color. I think it's gorgeous. I'm obsessed with these shoes too. They're super comfortable... and adorable. For days when I wear jeans in the office, I always wear a more structured top. It's important to dress up your jeans when wearing them to the office. Pair them with a tucked in dress shirt and classy shoes and you're good to go.

I'm really happy that this week is a short week. Life has been crazy lately. I've been traveling like crazy for work and have more travel coming up! I'm not complaining though, I absolutely love it. I am, however, looking forward to relaxing this week and eating! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to cook so I'll be in my glory this week. I'll be baking pies and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

My hair was doing crazy things in that picture!  Have a wonderful long weekend and Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks so much for reading :)

Loving him was red

Pants again! I'm on a roll here. These are one of my favorite pants I own and somehow this is the first time they've made it on the blog. I love the bright red color of these pants. They're perfect for Fall (and Spring and Summer and Winter too). Of course, I'm wearing stripes on top... I mean, are you surprised? Stripes go with everything. They're definitely my go-to!

The weather has been weird here in the Northeast lately. It's been rainy and gloomy all week, but last week it was sunny and HOT. It was literally in the high 70s. On days like that, it's hard to figure out what to wear. This outfit did the trick. The top is a sweater material, but lightweight, and the pants are also light and breezy. Flats (I would've worn sandals if I had a pedicure!), a bright lip, and a statement necklace completed the outfit and made it 100% office appropriate!
I'm heading to Texas next week and I'm really excited. I'll mostly be working (I'm going there for work!) but I'm hoping I have time to eat some BBQ and take in some of the sights! You can check out my Texas adventures on Instagram. Have a great week and thanks so much for reading :)

Fun Pants

I am definitely a fan of fun pants. Pants with fun patterns like I wore in this post and this post. While I usually find myself reaching for a dress when I'm getting ready for work in the morning, lately, I've been throwing pants on more and more. I'm really trying to up my pant game. I have a few everyday black pants which are always great for work, but I really want fun, patterned pants - that are work appropriate (of course!).

So, enter... these cuties from Loft. I got these a while ago and dug them up deep from the confines of my closet. I went for an easy look and paired them white a structured white top and a statement necklace. My go-to black flats and a bold, red lip completed the outfit. I plan on wearing these pants all through the Fall - maybe with red flats next time! The pants can even work for the winter with a black sweater and tall boots. The possibilities are endless :)

Have a great week and thanks so much for reading!

Fall Neutrals

These pictures were snapped before I headed to work. I wish I could wear this darling hat in the office all day, but it's not exactly business casual. Once it starts getting colder, I am usually reaching for neutrals. Grey, blacks, navy, tan, etc. This outfit seemed perfect for one of the first colder days of the Fall. Grey and black with a necklace that served as a good pop of color.

So, about this top. I've been searching for the perfect peplum top for a while. One that is flattering but in a solid color. One that can be worn to the office or a night out, and one that can be dressed down with jeans. I scooped this peplum top up at the Gap a few weeks ago and it complimented these flats that I wish I wore more often!

What are your plans for this Halloween weekend? I don't have my costume yet... talk about last minute! I'll have to throw something together! Have a great weekend. Thanks so much for reading :)

Loosey Goosey

I love the fit of this dress. I love the looseness of it, how billowy it is, and how it just hangs on my body. I'm a sucker for dresses (and tops) that are a little baggier! I purchased this dress a while ago... Probably back in the Spring. I've worn it non-stop since then, and it's only just making it's debut on the blog now! It was cute at a baseball game this summer with a hat and slip-on sneakers. And it's just as a cute for a day at the office with more structured shoes and a bright necklace. I actually wore this dress just yesterday with a bright scarf and grey booties!

How great is this uncharacteristically warm Fall weather? I'm loving it, buuut... all my Summer clothes are in storage! I'm making it work with some mixing and matching, and ended up grabbing a few lighter skirts from the attic! I'm looking forward to it getting a little colder so I can share some of the gorgeous cold weather pieces I recently purchased. So, stay tuned!

What are you up to this weekend? Jessi and I have a fun little weekend planned here in Jersey and I can't wait to show her around. We have eating a lot of pizza on our agenda. Along with checking out some vintage shops, and record stores. Have a great weekend and thanks so much for reading :)

I wore this denim dress on a Friday - when it's acceptable to dress a little more casually in the office. That wasn't the first time I wore this dress. I've worn it to a company BBQ a few months ago, a summer night out, and to a family party. I'm obsessed with the tie-dye pattern. I had actually been looking for a denim dress for a long time, so I was really happy when I found this at Loft (and it was on sale!). Unfortunately, it's really a Spring/Summer dress, so I'll have to put it away for the next couple of months. I guess that gives me a good excuse to buy a Winter appropriate denim dress!

How great is this necklace? It's one of my favorites! The day I wore it, I got so many compliments. I guess you can say it's a conversation starter. It's stunning. The best type of accessories are the type of accessories that take a simple outfit up 10,000 notches. This necklace did just that.

How was your week? I still miss the warm weather, but I'm slowly getting used to the idea of Fall. Have a great week and thanks so much for reading! :)

This skirt reminds me of a kaleidoscope I used to have when I was a kid. Those bright colors and patterns reminded me of this beautiful skirt that I scooped up at Francesca's a few weeks ago. As I mentioned before, I still really can't let go of summer, so I wore the skirt with sandals, a basic black tee and a bold lip. When I'm finally ready for fall, I'll throw on some tights, booties, and a sweater to wear with this skirt. Maybe a leather jacket too. But for now, it's bare legs.

I love bold skirts and dresses. I love that extra punch. When I wear a skirt or a dress with a heavy pattern, I try and keep my accessories minimal. A dainty necklace or pendant can go a long way :)

How was your week? Aside from working, I indulged in a Pumpkin Spice Latte (I'm saying hello to Fall through my taste buds), checked out a cute little used book store, ate burgers at a diner, and indulged in chocolate ice cream. Have a good week and thanks so much for reading :)

Holding onto summer

Today is the last official day of summer. I'm not reaching for boots, tights, and sweaters quite yet. I always find that I don't get enough wear out of my summer clothes, so you'll be seeing me in dresses and sandals for a few more weeks!

A few weeks ago, Loft was having an amazing sale. I saw this dress and immediately fell in love with it. I can't ever resist a good t-shirt dress. They're breezy and effortless but still polished and perfect for work. I paired it with my go-to statement necklace and simple sandals for the office. I added a bright lip (of course!) and I was good to go!

How are you celebrating the last official day of summer? I'll definitely be getting some ice cream tonight. Nothing screams summer like ice cream, right?

Thanks so much for reading :)

Fashion Rule Breaker

I'm not really one to follow fashion rules. Trends are coming and going constantly and are changing season by season. One thing I know for sure - when it comes to fashion, rules are meant to be broken.

You've probably heard this rule before - No white after Labor Day. I've broken this rule before, especially last year. I think white is a standout color - all year round! I purchased these white pants last summer and I'm obsessed with them. They're made from a thicker material, so I love wearing these pants during that strange transitional period (like, September!). Speaking of... Can you believe it's September? This summer flew by.

We all know how half of my wardrobe consists of stripes, so I paired these pants with a striped top. One of my favorite stripes in my closet. What's so great about this shirt is that it can really be worn throughout the whole year. I've said this before, but when I shop, I really like picking pieces that are versatile. I'll be wearing this top all throughout the fall with a crisp, black blazer and in the winter with a wool skirt and tights. As for these pants, they can easily be worn throughout the fall with booties or a sweater.

Sidebar - I've reached almost 25,000 views on my blog. Not too shabby for an ordinary girl from New Jersey. Thank you so much for reading!

Kinda Preppy

I don't really consider my style preppy. If you asked me to define my style in a few words, I would say my style is "classic-yet-edgy". I like taking classic pieces and making them my own. For example, adding a leather miniskirt to a striped top. Or wearing patterned tights with a little black dress. I was feeling a little preppy the other day after watching Gossip Girl on Netflix so I pulled this baby out of my closet...

This is actually a dress. It looks deceiving and looks like a top and a skirt, but it's one piece. I love the lacey skirt and the peter-pan collar. It's a really stunning dress and of course, office appropriate!

One of my summer closet staples is a cute pair of white sandals. I've been looking for a nice, affordable pair for awhile and fell in love with this pair from Loft. I purchased them as soon as I saw them and got them in black too. A girl can never have enough sandals!

I can't believe that summer has almost come to and end. I'm looking forward to the long weekend. Thanks so much for reading :)
