You know that feeling when you're waiting and waiting for something to go on sale and it FINALLY does? That euphoric feeling? ENTER - this cute little embellished top from Loft.  It was on super sale so I had to snatch it up. I had been eyeing it for weeks. I even put it under the tree. It was a gift to myself from myself. I've been pretty good this year, if I do say so myself.

Around this time of the year, I love dressing in winter colors. Maroon, deep greens, mustard, purples, etc. Something about those colors just screams "holiday season" to me. I got this maroon skirt I'm wearing a few weeks ago and had been struggling to put together an outfit with it. The green embellished top went perfectly and I love the way it turned out.

This year just FLEW by, didn't it? 2014 was full of wonderful moments. I can't wait to see what 2015 brings. I'll see ya'll next year! Happy New Year :)

Be Merry

December is my favorite month. There is something so magical about NYC during this time of year. The storefronts are decorated, there are swarms of tourists, the streets smell like pine, hot chocolate, peppermint (and pee), and the nights are filled with holiday parties!

I picked this sweater up at Old Navy to wear to an ugly Christmas sweater party. I didn't end up wearing it to the party. I decided it wasn't ugly enough. It's just too cute. And perfect for the office. I paired it with loafers, cuffed black pants and purple lipstick for a fun pre-holiday look. I feel like I kind of look like a grandpa and I love it.

What are your plans for the holidays? I'll be sticking around here. I'm looking forward to taking a couple of days off work, relaxing, drinking a ton of hot chocolate, and listening to Christmas music non-stop!

 Happy Holidays :)

P.S. Be sure to check out my post on what to wear to your office holiday party

Office Holiday Party

One of the hardest days of work to dress for is the day of my company's holiday party. The dilemma: I want to look cute, stylish, festive, BUT office appropriate. If it were completely up to me, I would declare my office's holiday party as a pajama party. Come one, come all in your cutest holiday pj's! Too bad that's not the case. Usually with office events such as holiday parties, I like sticking to something safe and adding accessories. Below are some tips on what to wear and what not to wear to your offices holiday party. If you're still stumped on what to wear, scroll down to the bottom of the post for some ideas!

- Even though it's a party, remember that your dress code still remains in tact! The holiday party isn't an excuse to break the dress code. My office is business casual - so that's how I'll dress for the holiday party.
- When in doubt, wear black. You can't go wrong with a little black dress. Add a Santa hat or reindeer antlers to look a little festive. Add a red lip and you're good to go.
- Your boss will be at the party. And your boss's boss. And probably your boss's boss's boss! Remember that when you're putting an outfit together.
- A good rule of thumb - if you think you shouldn't wear it, you probably shouldn't wear it.
- Be festive! But not tacky.

Let me just tell you guys how hard it is to shoot pictures when it's raining. My trusty photographer and I went outside the other day to take some pictures only to discover that it was pouring! We found this little nook right outside my office building. It worked perfectly, don't ya think?

Well. It's back to tights. Once you give in and put those tights on, they aren't coming off till April. It's been too cold lately to go barelegged. I finally gave in this week and threw tights on. My legs are thanking me. I feel witchy in this outfit. A lacey dress, black tights and booties made for the perfect work day outfit. This dress would also work for a holiday party, in the summer with some strappy sandals, or even with some statement tights!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was spent eating a TON, catching up on some much needed sleep, and binge watching Gilmore Girls and Parenthood on Netflix. Surprisingly, I didn't go shopping on Black Friday. BUT. I took advantage of the great Cyber Monday deals and snagged some great holiday gifts.

Be sure to check back here next week. I'll be sharing some tips on what to wear to your office holiday party!

Thank you so much for reading :)
