Country Wedding

Here's a little letter I received on my Facebook page from one of my dearest friends! If you need style advice, click here to find out how to be featured here.

Dear Office Fashionista,

Help! I know that you will have the answer. I am attending a country-style wedding on a lake in late June. My (hot) date is best man, so I must look pretty. He will be in khakis and a white button down. What could I possibly wear to such an event? Please help me find the perfect look! I will be forever grateful.

The Tailored Teacher

Dear Tailored Teacher,

Country weddings are so much fun! You can dress a little less formal than a semi-formal wedding but that doesn't mean that you can't dress up at all! A lace or floral dress in a bright color is perfect for the occasion! Make sure you wear shoes that won't stick to the grass so definitely go with wedges! They instantly make an outfit a little more formal but are so comfortable. Style your hair in loose curls or a romantic side braid. I've created a look for you below! Have fun :)

Spring Chill

The temperatures dipped back down to the 60s today so it's back to long sleeves. This stripe top is my go-to. Night out with my girls? This top. Date night? This top. The office? This top. It's so versatile and can be worn with anything. It's definitely a closet staple. So, ladies - if you don't have a striped top, you need one! This time, I paired the top with black pants that I previously wore here and a pair of loafers. I'll call these loafers my old lady loafers. I'm obsessed though. I'm all about menswear inspired pieces.

This week seems to just be dragging by. I do feel very relaxed though! We should ALWAYS have three day weekends. Can we implement that rule? My weekend consisted of a ton of food, making homemade creme brulee, and catching up with friends.

Right now, I'm wishing for tons of sunlight and gorgeous days. I went a little crazy with the shopping and can't wear to share some of my new summer pieces!

Witch Lips

Fashion is about taking risks. Taking risks with your clothes, taking risks with your jewelry, taking risks with your shoes, and taking risks with your beauty routine.

I've been wanting to try dark lipstick for a long time. I finally got this dark, dark lipstick.  My family calls these dark lips witch lips. I call it fashion forward! Recently, I purchased black lipstick. The plan is to wear it with a floral outfit but I haven't had the guts to wear it yet.

And outfit! I love over-sized clothing. This blazer is a couple sizes too big. I was going for the I'm-wearing-my-boyfriends-blazer look. Of course, my boyfriend would never wear a teal blazer. His idea of fashion is basketball shorts and a t-shirt.

Jersey Poof & Pleather

It's back to tights today with this post. It's a little chilly today and the forecast calls for temperatures dipping down and rain later in the bye for now, bare legs!

Something was missing from this outfit when I put it on. It needed a little bit more oooompfffh. So, I grabbed my comb, teased my hair and put it in a Jersey girl poof. Then I took it down because I thought it was too much poof. Now that I look at these pictures, I'm realizing it's NOT ENOUGH poof!

I wish I wore this skirt more.  I love the fullness of it and the detailing at the bottom. My top is actually a crop top, so I wore the skirt high waist-ed. When wearing leather to the office, the key is to make sure it's modest. So, wear a leather skater skirt instead of a body-con. If you want to wear a leather top, make sure its loose fitting and a tunic and break up the roughness with a floral blazer.

Chambray Saves the Day

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I'm celebrating by wearing a bright scarf and eating chips & salsa for lunch!

I'm coming clean, guys. I wear this chambray shirt on the regular. Like, sometimes two or three times a week. Isn't chambray like the best thing ever? It goes with EVERYTHING and can be worn all year round. Perfect for layering, for wearing with skirts, for wearing over dresses, and for wearing to the office.

Now, about these shoes.. how great are they? I call them my weapon in disguise. If you can't tell in the pictures, they have these sharp, pointy bumps all over.
