On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Today one of my favorite movies ever turns 10 years old. Mean Girls. The movie first hit theaters 10 years ago today. I'm STILL constantly quoting this movie.... Especially in everyday life situations. "You can't sit with us" is said almost everyday during lunch hour at work (jokingly, of course!).

The other day, I read this great article on Vogue's website about fashion advice from the Plastics. I'm sure you all remember the rules. Don't wear a tanktop two days in a row, only wear jeans or track pants on Fridays, don't wear hoop earrings.. Just to name a few.

Soooo.... in honor of Wednesday, I'm wearing pink.

Isn't my dress so 'fetch'? I scooped this little number up at Ann Taylor about a year ago. I was flipping through the sales rack when I saw it. It was a few sizes too big BUT I purchased it, got it hemmed and taken in and viola! If I ever see something that isn't quite my size but find myself really, really wanting it, then I buy it anyway. Usually, there's always a way to make it work!

I leave you with one last piece of fashion advice from the Plastics.. "Well, I mean, you wouldn't buy a skirt without asking your friends first if it looks good on you, right?!"

Tribal Print

Guys, meet my new favorite dress. Comfortable + fun print = perfection. I snagged this little baby at Forever 21 a few months ago. I love it because it's SO versatile. I can wear it when its cold with tights and boots or I can wear it when its warmer with sandals. But lately, I've been dreaming of wearing this dress with these shoes

This dress is a bit of a party in the back! In the office, I wore it with a blazer. It would also look really cute with a denim jacket or a camo-green blazer. For after work Happy Hour, I would shed the blazer.

Blue Da Ba Dee

I always build my outfits around one key piece. I start with one thing and work around it. Whether it be shoes, a top, a necklace, or even a hairstyle. With this outfit, I built everything around my earrings. I've literally had these earrings for 5 years and I've never worn them. I hung them on my dresser, and I guess I thought they looked better as decoration. Last week, I was at a loss with what to wear. I wanted to wear something fresh, but didn't have anything new. Annnnnnd, then I lay my eyes on the earrings.

It's back to cooler temps in NYC. That means its back to tights, long sleeves, and booties. Mother Nature, stop teasing me!

The dress is so old. It's seen better days. But, I've kept it around.

Long Sleeve Shirt: Old Navy
Dress: Old, this one and this one are on my list.

Booties: Haute Look, I love these

Home Run

A baseball tee, skinny jeans and flats make for a perfect casual Friday outfit. I'm lucky enough to be allowed to wear jeans on Fridays. My flats are seriously SO comfy. These little guys are from Urban Outfitters, probably 3 or 4 years ago. I seriously kept looking down at my feet to make sure that I didn't walk out of the house in my house slippers by accident. These flats are THAT comfortable!

Spring has finally sprung in NYC and I've taken a BIG risk.. and put away my winter coat. Hope I won't need it for a verrrrrry long time. This gorgeous sunshine and weather couldn't make me happier. What a wonderful way to end the work week. Happy Friday, my friends!

P.S! My hairstyle is super easy to do.  (From Twist Me Pretty!)

Classroom Chic

If I were principal of a school, this would be the uniform. A cute plaid dress with a collar, black tights, and gold buckle booties. The school of fashion.

I love this dress because it's chic, fun, totally office appropriate and so comfortable. The dress is actually sleeveless and can be worn even in warmer temperatures. Since it's still cold in NYC, I  put on a white long sleeve shirt under the dress. When (If?) it gets warmer, I would wear this dress with bare legs, and cut out booties. For an important meeting, I would throw a blazer on over the dress. I also just had a vision of myself wearing this dress with this faux fur vest

This dress was actually a $10 score from Zara! Originally, it was almost $100. Which brings me back to my first point.... If I were a principal, scoring cute dresses at Zara for over 70% off would automatically get you an A+.

The Classics

There is nothing more classic than a head to toe black and white ensemble. I bought this skirt several weeks ago and was waiting for warmer temperatures to pull it out of the shopping bag. Finally, temperatures in the East Coast crawled above 30 degrees and out came my new skirt! Unfortunately, it was still too chilly to go bare legged.

The day I wore this outfit, I had one of those mornings. You know the kind. The kind where you just don't have anything to wear and nothing looks right. And you wish the mall was open at 6 am. Whenever I have one of those mornings, I always reach for black and white. Simple, classic and timeless.
