You know that feeling when you're waiting and waiting for something to go on sale and it FINALLY does? That euphoric feeling? ENTER - this cute little embellished top from Loft.  It was on super sale so I had to snatch it up. I had been eyeing it for weeks. I even put it under the tree. It was a gift to myself from myself. I've been pretty good this year, if I do say so myself.

Around this time of the year, I love dressing in winter colors. Maroon, deep greens, mustard, purples, etc. Something about those colors just screams "holiday season" to me. I got this maroon skirt I'm wearing a few weeks ago and had been struggling to put together an outfit with it. The green embellished top went perfectly and I love the way it turned out.

This year just FLEW by, didn't it? 2014 was full of wonderful moments. I can't wait to see what 2015 brings. I'll see ya'll next year! Happy New Year :)

Be Merry

December is my favorite month. There is something so magical about NYC during this time of year. The storefronts are decorated, there are swarms of tourists, the streets smell like pine, hot chocolate, peppermint (and pee), and the nights are filled with holiday parties!

I picked this sweater up at Old Navy to wear to an ugly Christmas sweater party. I didn't end up wearing it to the party. I decided it wasn't ugly enough. It's just too cute. And perfect for the office. I paired it with loafers, cuffed black pants and purple lipstick for a fun pre-holiday look. I feel like I kind of look like a grandpa and I love it.

What are your plans for the holidays? I'll be sticking around here. I'm looking forward to taking a couple of days off work, relaxing, drinking a ton of hot chocolate, and listening to Christmas music non-stop!

 Happy Holidays :)

P.S. Be sure to check out my post on what to wear to your office holiday party

Office Holiday Party

One of the hardest days of work to dress for is the day of my company's holiday party. The dilemma: I want to look cute, stylish, festive, BUT office appropriate. If it were completely up to me, I would declare my office's holiday party as a pajama party. Come one, come all in your cutest holiday pj's! Too bad that's not the case. Usually with office events such as holiday parties, I like sticking to something safe and adding accessories. Below are some tips on what to wear and what not to wear to your offices holiday party. If you're still stumped on what to wear, scroll down to the bottom of the post for some ideas!

- Even though it's a party, remember that your dress code still remains in tact! The holiday party isn't an excuse to break the dress code. My office is business casual - so that's how I'll dress for the holiday party.
- When in doubt, wear black. You can't go wrong with a little black dress. Add a Santa hat or reindeer antlers to look a little festive. Add a red lip and you're good to go.
- Your boss will be at the party. And your boss's boss. And probably your boss's boss's boss! Remember that when you're putting an outfit together.
- A good rule of thumb - if you think you shouldn't wear it, you probably shouldn't wear it.
- Be festive! But not tacky.

Let me just tell you guys how hard it is to shoot pictures when it's raining. My trusty photographer and I went outside the other day to take some pictures only to discover that it was pouring! We found this little nook right outside my office building. It worked perfectly, don't ya think?

Well. It's back to tights. Once you give in and put those tights on, they aren't coming off till April. It's been too cold lately to go barelegged. I finally gave in this week and threw tights on. My legs are thanking me. I feel witchy in this outfit. A lacey dress, black tights and booties made for the perfect work day outfit. This dress would also work for a holiday party, in the summer with some strappy sandals, or even with some statement tights!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was spent eating a TON, catching up on some much needed sleep, and binge watching Gilmore Girls and Parenthood on Netflix. Surprisingly, I didn't go shopping on Black Friday. BUT. I took advantage of the great Cyber Monday deals and snagged some great holiday gifts.

Be sure to check back here next week. I'll be sharing some tips on what to wear to your office holiday party!

Thank you so much for reading :)

Wild One

This scarf is one of my best thrift store finds. It's something my grandma would've worn. I love coming across fun little pieces when I go to the thrift store.

I wore this outfit last Friday. Last week was crazy! By the end of the week, I was feeling out of sorts - tired & lazy. Have you ever had one of those weeks? The last thing I wanted to do was dress up. So, jeans and t-shirt it was! I spiced the outfit up by throwing this scarf on, which I wrapped around my shoulders for the most of the day since my office is always freezing!

Now, about these boots. These boots are great. They have a bit of a heel and are a deep chocolate color (matches with pretty much everything!). These boots are also great for petite girls - they hit the perfect spot on your leg!

I don't know about you, but I'm sooooooooooo excited for Thanksgiving. My favorite holiday. Any day that involves eating a TON is a great day in my book. I'm thankful for so much this holiday season - my wonderful family and friends, the best boyfriend ever, a job that i love, and this growing blog.

Happy Thanksgiving :)

Party Pants

Guys. These pants. They're heavenly. They are so comfortable and can 100% double as pajamas. For the office, I added some stilettos, a necklace, and a red lip. I call these pants my party pants.

These pictures were taken a few days ago when NYC was blessed with 70 degree weather in November. These pants are pretty versatile, though. I'm envisioning myself wearing them with booties and a blazer in colder temps. Or even with a fur vet. Ooooooh, the possibilities.

When it comes to dressing for the office, I'm more of a comfort kinda gal. I'm commuting in this outfit, walking around the streets of NYC in this outfit, and sitting at a desk for 8 hours in this outfit. So, of course - I want to be comfortable. These pants are just that. They're stylish, comfortable, and edgy.

Happy Tuesday! There are so many things coming up to be excited for. Thanksgiving, MY BIRTHDAY, Christmas, New Years, etc! This time of year is my favorite. The temperatures on the East Coast suddenly plummeted and it's 30 degrees in NYC today. Isn't there  something so magical about the temperatures dropping?

I got that red lip classic thing that you like

Sometimes, you really just have to match your lipstick to your dress.

For those of my readers that know me personally and outside of the blog-sphere, I have a slight major obsession with Taylor Swift.  The title of this post are lyrics from one of my favorite songs from her new album. I couldn't be more excited to have snagged tickets to her concert next summer. Anyway, on to serious business like... my outfit!

I feel so powerful in this dress. Red is really one of those colors that makes me strut down the street like I'm the queen of the city. Add red lipstick, a high ponytail, and cute little booties and you've got a perrrrfect 9-5 outfit. I typically save this dress for important meetings. It's really one of those dresses that can serve multiple purposes. I've also worn this baby to Christmas dinner, to job interviews, and winter weddings. It's an oldie but a goodie.

Despite the fact that it's November, I'm still going sans-tights. I really just feel like once you put tights on, they're not coming off till March. I'm rocking my bare legs as long as I can!

Back to Black

Lately, I've been feeling a tad uninspired when it comes to work outfits. I'm not ready to wear tights, boots and sweaters. Yet, it's a little too chilly for bare legs. Slow down, cold weather. I'm not ready for winter coats and scarves!

The morning I wore this outfit, I wanted to wear all one color with a pop. I'm always going back to black. Whenever I'm in a style rut, I always reach for black. All black everything. I'm obsessed with these harem pants. They're from Asos and fit like a glove. They're just the right amount of baggy and have just the right amount of sag. Paired with a plain black tee, a bright necklace, and heels - they make for a perfect work outfit.

I was so thankful for the extra hour of sleep this morning. I've been working like crazy lately and every minute of sleep that I can get is a blessing. I'm already bracing myself for this jam packed week up ahead. This week includes a quick six hour work trip to Boston, a very special birthday, and mountains of work.

Happy Monday!

Zaraz Collection

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to visit a the boutique in Long Island,  Zaraz Collection.  When the owner, Rebecca and her husband invited Jessi and I to visit the boutique and style some of their clothes, I was ecstatic to say the least. Jessi and I stopped by, tried on some clothes and jewelry, swooned over the handbags, and of course - snapped some pictures!

(The store)

(LOVE these leather bracelets! I'd stack a bunch)

(All handmade by Rebecca)

(Just swooning over this top!)

(Some bracelets at the store. I wanted all of them!)

Zaraz Collection has women's clothes, jewelry, scarves, accessories, and purses. Some of the items are even handmade by Rebecca! Zaraz Collection was opened in 2006 and has some of the most unique accessories and handbags I've ever seen. What I love about the store is how affordable it is. I'm not the type of girl who will spend hundreds on a top, a piece of jewelry or handbag. Zaraz has affordable, timeless, and classic pieces. These pieces are also GREAT quality and won't fall apart after a few wears.

The store carries a lot of items that will never go out of style and are appropriate for women of all ages. The best part: Most of the pieces sold in the store can be worn all year round. Summer, Winter, Fall, Spring - talk about versatility :)

Zaraz Collection has fabulous items that every office fashionista needs! Scroll up and down to take a look at some of my favorite picks from the store. In the coming weeks, I'll be featuring more (office appropriate, of course!) outfits from the store. So, stay tuned!

(Cool necklace made out of old coins)

(This sweater from the store was so warm & cozy)

(Obsessed with this infinity scarf and office appropriate handbag!)

(This clutch is a handmade by Rebecca. I love the scarfs fun pattern)

(This over-sized cardigan is perfect for cool fall nights. And yes, I'm wearing about five watch necklaces!)

(Another handmade clutch and fun scarf from the store)

(That's my photographer Jessi! Isn't she cute?! The infinity scarf was Jessi's favorite piece from the store. )

You can visit the Zaraz Collection website here. Be sure to check out their Facebook page too.

man shirt

This over-sized button down tee, skinny jeans, leopard flats, and a fun necklace made for the perfect Friday outfit.

I often buy tops and dresses a size or two bigger - I love the baggy look! This top is a new addition to my closet. It was on super sale at Loft a few weeks ago and I knew I had to snatch it up. It's a great color, comfortable, and versatile. I can't wait to style it with a fur vest when it gets a little cooler.

This outfit is also a great day-to-night outfit. It was perfect for post-work dinner and drinks.

I was a little sad to see this weekend end. On Saturday, my photographer (Jessi) and I made a trek to Long Island for a fun collaboration/photoshoot with a local boutique. I'm so excited to show you guys the different pieces I styled. Stay tuned for that next week :)

Have a wonderful Monday!
