Spring Fling

Hi Friends! I'm back after a long hiatus. One of my goals is to be a better blogger and go back to posting at least once a week. Sometimes, life just gets in the way. It's been crazy with work (I've been traveling a ton), wedding planning, other friends weddings/baby showers, family obligations, etc. I hope I can catch my breath soon! I promise I'll be blogging more. Now that the weather has gotten nicer and the sun is out longer, it'll be a lot easier to take pictures too.

So, the other day, my mom and I went to the mall to look for some wedding shoes. I need the perfect pair of heels for my big day and my mom wanted a comfortable shoe for my wedding day. We didn't have much luck! But... I did walk out with this gorgeous top from Primark. I got so many compliments on it. You HAVE to get it. Not only is it stunning and flattering, it's also really well made and was only $15. A win in my book.

I paired it with black pants, nude heels, and a bright pink lipstick. In the summer, I plan on wearing the top with white pants for an all-white look. It would even look cute with denim shorts and sandals. This top is perfect for spring and summer events like baby showers, bridal showers, mothers day and fathers day, etc! The blouse is also available in navy. I'm glad I went with the white one, I already have so many dark colors in my closet.

I searched high and low for this top online, but couldn't find it. I linked a similar style, but it doesn't have the pattern. I just purchased this top last Friday, so definitely go to Primark ASAP if you feel like you've gotta have it!

I'm heading to Austin for work next week and wouldn't this top just be perfect outfit to wear out to dinner? I'll definitely be packing it.

Thanks so much for reading!

Good Luck Charm

In India and Southeast Asia, elephants are considered a good luck. So, when I saw this elephant necklace a few weeks ago, I knew I had to have it. Best part? it was only $1! I've never really seen anything like it. I also love that the necklace is made out of wood. I got it at Fremont Market in Seattle, a year-round street market. A lady was selling old necklaces and I got this elephant one and another cool one, which I'm sure will make a debut on the blog soon.

I paired my necklace with a top from Loft that I purchased a few months ago. The pinks and purple stripes compliment the necklace perfectly. I didn't want to wear the top with khakis or black dress pants. After some digging in my closet, I came across these green dress pants that I totally forgot about. Now they're on constant rotation when it comes to work clothes. A bold lip finished the look, obviously.

A few other elephant necklaces I love - this one, this one, and this one

If you're ever in Seattle, be sure to go to the Fremont Market. I also got some cool vintage doodads, fun soaps, more jewelry, and some clothes.

I've been so busy these past few weeks. Work travels, wedding planning, and family and friend obligations have been keeping me occupied. I'm heading to Montreal later this week for work and I'm really excited. I've never been there. My favorite part of traveling is always going to new restaurants. Can't wait to eat some poutine. Yum!

Thanks so much for reading!

Makeup for the Office

Are you guilty of hitting the snooze button a few too many times in the morning? I know I am! I'm great about getting my stuff together the night before work. I lay my outfit down, down to my shoes and jewelry. Getting up in the morning, however, is the hard part! There's been days where I'm scrambling to get my makeup done and to make my hair not stick out in every direction.

A put together look for the office doesn't just end with your outfit. It's your hair and makeup too. When it comes to makeup for the office, I always keep it minimal. Concealer, mascara, and of course, my signature bold lip. This makeup look makes me feel put together and confident and is professional. The downside? It takes me around a half hour to do my makeup in the morning. Some days, I end up doing it at my desk or in the bathroom at work.

Today, my dear friend Michelle is coming to the rescue and sharing a makeup tutorial to show you a quick and easy makeup look (that's under 10 minutes!) for those days when you're running late to the office. All the products used are from Younique, a 4-year old, naturally-based cosmetic company featuring high quality makeup and skincare.

The products that Michelle used: Glorious Face & Eye Primer, BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer (Michelle is using the color Bisque), Brow Liner, Precision Pencil Eye Liner (Perfect Black), Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara, Lip BonBons Tinted Lip Balm (Michelle used Raspberry Cheesecake), Royalty Rose Water Toning Spritz

For more Younique products, you can shop by clicking here!

Younique has everything - tools, face products, eye shadows, lipsticks, cleansers, and detox masks. Everything is lightweight and non-toxic. It's important to know what you're putting on your face, and with Younique products, you're putting the best of the best on your face.

I sat down with Michelle to learn about her Younique journey! Michelle was first introduced to Younique by family members. She loved Younique products, and decided to become an Independent Younique Presenter.  Michelle joined in October 2015 and loves helping others feel beautiful day in and day out.

If you want to get involved with Younique, feel free to contact Michelle with any questions about the products, the business opportunity, or even hosting an educational and fun makeup class or beauty bash!

Capsule Wardrobe

Does your closet look like a complete mess? Mine does. Guilty as charged! My problem is that I have way too many clothes. Whats funny is the fact that I only wear about half of these clothes. Maybe even less than half. I have a few pieces that I tend to always gravitate to.

Recently, my basement was flooded. My room is down there! The basement had to be completely remodeled from the floors and walls. My expansive closet and dresser are down there too and some of my clothes were ruined. I considered this a blessing in disguise. This gave me the (much needed) push to clean out my closet. Since I'm getting married soon and will be moving out of my parents' house in a few months, I really needed to rethink my wardrobe and organizational skills. The days of having three closets and two dressers to myself will soon be gone!

Have you ever heard of a capsule wardrobe? I'm teaming up with Betabrand to show you how to build a capsule wardrobe. Betabrand is an online clothing community that designs, manufactures, and releases new products constantly.

A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential and versatile items in your closet that don't go out of style and can be mixed with on-trend pieces. It's basically a mini-wardrobe! A capsule wardrobe is great because there is always something in your closet that you love to wear. I have a million things in my closet, but every morning, I stand in front of my closet complaining that I don't have anything to wear. Raise your hand if you have this problem too! A capsule wardrobe will also save you a ton of time, money, and energy. You'll spend less time worrying about what to wear and spending less money on clothes.

Are your ears perked yet? Below is a quick and easy guide on how to create a capsule wardrobe, brought to you by Betabrand! I started creating a capsule wardrobe of my own last weekend. What a perfect way to spend a long weekend!

Since my wardrobe is mostly focused on pieces I can wear to work, I focused mostly on pieces I can wear to the office - office friendly dresses, nice pants, modest tops, and versatile shoes. I also made sure to keep basic sweaters and blazers. While keeping just a few pieces of your favorite closet items, you can mix and match and put together a lot of outfits! So, keeping 27 pieces can lead to mixing and matching and building 100 outfits.

Having a capsule wardrobe doesn't mean that you can't shop! While building my capsule wardrobe I realized I have mostly trendy pieces. I have a lot of patterned and fun pants, but no basic pants! Betabrand has a great collection of versatile pants. I love these business-class travel trousers - they would be perfect for jumping on a plane and heading straight to a meeting (something I do all the time!). I've also got my eye on these straight-leg dressy yoga pants, and these crop dressy yoga pants (perfect for short gals like me!)

I love Betabrand's Work-It Collection too, which has stylish business attire that is perfect for a capsule wardrobe. This dress can be worn all year round. It's nice enough to wear to important work meetings, and I would also style this with sneakers for a casual weekend look. This pencil skit is on my wish list too.

If you're nervous about tossing clothes and building a capsule wardrobe (I know I am!) store them instead. That way, you'll have them on hand if you get the urge to wear a certain piece not in your capsule wardrobe. The bottom line is to edit your capsule wardrobe to your liking and lifestyle. Friends, I challenge you to create your own capsule wardrobe!
