Faux Fur

Happy Groundhogs Day! So, there's been conflicting reports of whether or not spring is on its way or if we have another few weeks of winter. One of New Jerseys groundhogs predicted an early spring, but notable groundhog Punxsutawney Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter.  Either way, it's cold out today and it's going to get even colder the next few days in the northeast.

What better way to keep warm than to wear a faux fur vest? I've had this vest in my closet for years now.  The great thing about this vest is that it can pretty much be worn with anything. I've worn it with jeans, with dresses and skirts, and with leggings. Today I'm showing you how I styled it for the office. I paired the vest with a black and white striped dress (my favorite pattern!), black tights, and booties.
I'm lucky to be escaping the cold this week just for a few days. I'm heading to California for work and Seattle right after. I'm so excited to be catching up with my dear friend Beth in California and my childhood friend Lauren in Seattle. The biggest perk about traveling for work is that I get to see my friends that are all around the world!

I have some exciting posts coming up on the blog in the next few weeks - a weekday makeup tutorial for a quick and pretty office look, and some tips on exercising for when you don't have time to exercise. Coming soon!

Thanks so much for reading :)

Part of feeling and looking great at the office is wearing undergarments that you feel good in and that you're comfortable in. Wearing a well-fitted bra can take your outfit to a whole new level and make you look and feel professional. While you may not realize it, wearing a good bra can totally change the way an outfit looks!

If you're like me, I'm sure you've suffered from years and years of finding the right bra for your body. What's your biggest bra issue? Mine is slipping straps. I'm constantly pulling at my bra straps at work. At a really important meeting a few weeks ago, my coworker whispered in my ear that my bright pink bra straps were slipping. Talk about embarrassing, ugh!    I always have a hard time finding a good bra and well fitting bra since I'm so petite.  Today I'm sharing some easy fixes to some bra-blems that you may have.

The fixes below are brought to you by ThirdLove, a brand I love that makes high quality and beautiful bras. Part of the problem with bras is that they aren't often made to fit women's diverse bodies. ThirdLove has reinvented the way a bra fits by focusing on maximizing fit and comfort. After all, a bra is really supposed to fit well and be comfortable throughout the day.

ThirdLove has a really great service where you could try a bra before you buy it called fit finder. All you need to do is answer a few questions on their website and you'll be matched with a bra that's perfect for you. You try the bra for 30 days. If you love it, you keep it and you'll get charged for the bra. If it's not the right bra for you, send it back and your credit card won't be charged. I did this and was matched with the 24/7 Classic T-Shirt Bra. Guys, I'm obsessed. The bra fits so well. Usually, the first thing I do when I get home is take my bra off. The ThirdLove bra literally feels like butter. It's so comfortable and I feel like I'm not even wearing a bra. Best of all, my straps didn't slip! I'll definitely be buying this bra in every color.

Cracking Office Dress Codes: Small Business Casual

I'm teaming up with T.M. Lewin to help you crack your office dress code. This post is part of a five part series where I'll show you how to dress for different office dress codes - business formal, business professional, business casual, small business casual, and creative. The world of office-appropriate attire is often difficult to crack. Especially when work environments and trends continuously evolve.  You can check out part one of the series - where I tackled the business casual look - HERE and part two of the series where I took on the business professional look HERE.

Today I'm showing you how to dress small business casual. Have you ever worked in a small business casual environment? I did in one of my previous positions. Small business casual is noted as one level down from business casual. For a small business casual look, women can wear more casual fabrics such as cotton. Dark denim is totally appropriate, as well as open toe-ed heels, flat sandals, or wedges. You can also wear shirts in bold patterns or colors. As for the men in the office, small business casual means casual trousers, dark denim, and collared polos.

For my small business casual look, I paired a peplum top with dark pants. Yes, that's tulle you see underneath the top. How cute is that? I love, love, love tulle but let's face it - tulle is not office appropriate. This top is a perfect and subtle way to incorporate tulle into your outfit.  With my suede grey booties, my look was instantly office appropriate.

T.M. Lewin has made office dressing easy and created an easy-to-follow guide for office dressing! Check the guide out below. T.M. Lewin is a British brand based in London specializing in modern work wear for both men and women. The pieces are absolutely beautiful. Some of my favorite small business casual looks looks include this subtle black cardigan. For the men out there, T.M.Lewin is best known for the endless range of men's shirts they offer. For a small business casual look, I love this shirt and this shirt.

Next week, I'll show you how to tackle office dressing for a creative office environment. Be sure to check back next week for some more tips. In the meantime, check out my previous posts on cracking your office dress code here and here.

Holiday Velvet

Is anyone as obsessed with velvet as I am? It's so beautiful and looks instantly elegant. Velvet is great to be worn as a top, bottom, or a dress. If you want to wear something effortlessly stylish to your office holiday party, try velvet.

So, the past few years that I've worked at my current job, I've missed our holiday party. I always happen to be traveling for work. This year, the ladies in my group and I went out for a fancy lunch. It was the perfect excuse for me to wear this velvet top and these gorgeous earrings. I really do wish that velvet was something I can wear all year round, but it's really just appropriate for the winter. But... I've been known to always break fashion rules, so who knows? You might see this velvet top make an appearance on the blog in the summer!

I'll be back to posting my series on Cracking Your Office Dress Code next week. In the meantime, you can read part 1 and part 2 of the series here.

Have you gotten your holiday shopping done yet? I'm almost done and just need to grab a few small things... Nothing like leaving things for the last minute. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season :)  Thanks so much for reading!
